General Ledger Accountant required for a Government/Defence client nr Andover, Hampshire
To ensure the regular and uninterrupted functioning of the general ledger, sales ledger and fixed assets processes so as to ensure the client achieves integrity and timeliness for each accounting period end and for the annual report and accounts. Reporting to the Financial Accountant with functional responsibility for motivation and management of key areas of the financial accounting team. Skills Required
First hand managerial experience in, with active involvement and cross functional understanding of, an ERP system in a multisite MRO type business. Personal credibility and effectiveness to quickly create strong and reliable relationships with senior colleagues throughout the business. Capability to work effectively in a dynamic change environment with complex projects providing accurate and timely information to a high standard. Drive and perseverance with strong written and oral communication skills particularly attuned to working well with non-finance professionals. Proactive self starter able to anticipate requirements and take prompt action. Appreciation of MOD policies and operating activities to overcome wider financial accounting issues affecting the client.
Qualifications Required
CCAB Qualified Accountant. Thorough and practical understanding of, plus the ability to interpret and apply the requirements of UKGAAP, FRS, IAS and IFRS to NAO satisfaction. Advanced user in a range of Microsoft Office applications. Advanced report writing skills to assist preparing business cases to Board level. Experienced in matters of VAT, excise duty and associated returns. Familiar with PAYE processes and employee benefit taxation
