Description
My client, a specialist electronics engineering company, urgently requires a contract Senior Buyer to join their Materials and Operations department based in Buckinghamshire for an initial 3 month contract.
The successful candidate will have a CIPS qualification and a sound background in Supply Chain/Purchasing/Procurement, as well as experience working with PCB's, electronic components, cables and electro-mechanical assemblies.
Additional key skills include: CIPS, BoM, ERP, CostPoint, Q-Pulse, Preactor, Electronics.
Purpose of Role/Responsibilities:
- To develop and manage an agile, robust, approved vendor base at the commodity group level focused on technological improvement and reduction of cost, and achievement of challenging delivery timescales
- To take project delivery responsibility as determined by project milestones, for the on-time-in-full delivery of materials and services
- To negotiate contracts by utilising a strong technical, commercial and bid knowledge
- To identify and develop two-way, 'win-win' supplier-customer relationships
- Timely issue and expediting of Purchase Orders in accordance with company procedures and processes
- Validation of Purchase Requisitions and negotiation with vendors
- Utilise competitive tendering wherever product design and/or time constraints allow.
- To implement effective supplier relationship management (SRM) with strategic/key vendors.
- To measure and report vendor KPI performance, implement improvement plans and implement corrective actions for unsatisfactory performance.
- To support the development of an approved vendor base and ensure its accurate recording in the CostPoint and Q-Pulse databases.
