My client is looking for a Test Engineer with experience in faulting finding of Power Electronics.
This is a contract role based in Hereford. The successful candidate will be part of a highly motivated, dynamic and rapidly growing team of engineers working on the delivery of awarded projects and related HVDC applications.
The role gives an excellent opportunity for a motivated candidate to innovate, expand their design skill and personal development within an internationally recognised expert in this exciting field.
The Person: The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in electrical or electronic engineering however, this is not as important as a proven track record and evidence of experience and abilities to perform this role.
Candidates should have proven experience of testing of power electronic converters (preferably at high power >1MVA). A good understanding of power semiconductors, their control, protection and application would be advantageous. Any experience in RF would also be a bonus.
Responsibilities:
*Fault finding
*Generate test documentation - specifications/reports
*Calculation of key test circuit/component ratings
*Circuit simulation for test circuits configurations
*Setting up, proving and fault finding of test circuits
*Customer facing for witness testing.Integration with other engineering departments for test preparation
*Documentation of new test processes and procedures

Customer Facing Skills and Experience:
*Medium to High Voltage Test Experience
*V,I, Measurements at High Voltage
*Specification & report writing
*Confident using Wiring/Circuit Diagrams
*Workload planning and working to deadlines
*Working knowledge of MS Word & Excel Advantageous:
*Power Electronic control & protection.Power electronic converters (motor drives, such as HVDC and FACTS applications)
*High power electronic components (IGBTs, thyristors, passive components)
*Understanding of multi-modular converters
*High Voltage engineering
