Brook Street are currently working on behalf of our Global IT client to recruit a Marketing Executive. This is a contract role running until June 2015 based in Central London.

Role Purpose

Your role in this:

Startups are an extremely important customer segment to us - they innovate, they disrupt, they influence and they are exciting to be around. London is THE start-up hub in Europe. We believe we have a critical role to play in helping the next generation of UK-based startups cross the chasm. We are looking for smart, motivated people to help us build on the tremendous momentum we have built over the past year and deliver on our objectives to become relevant to startups in the UK. Working in the Accelerator environment is extremely energising and demanding and we need someone who is passionate about startups, a do-er and who can roll-up their sleeves and get stuck in and is hungry for a big challenge.

Our strategy spans from depth to breadth. The main focus of your role will be to assist the CMO for Startups in running the day-to-day marketing as well as other startup outreach, activities, partnerships. In short, we are looking for an enterprising marketing superstar in the making. You will also be a key ambassador for us into the startup community, so you have an important role to play in our new dialogue with startups and the startup community and ecosystem.

Primary responsibilities of the role:

Support the CMO for startups in implementing the startup marketing strategy, including:

  • Social Media: social media content planning and creation for twitter channel; tweeting (planned, in the moment and live tweeting from events), responding; monthly and ad-hoc reporting
  • Event & Project Management: organise and manage events and projects, including external event partners, working closely with the operations manager to deliver seamless events
  • Communications support:
    • Update web site as needed (CMS training given)
    • Write effective copy as needed - promotional, invitational, blog and twitter posts, web
    • Produce reports on the effectiveness of marketing activities, including monthly Rhythm of the Business (ROB) reports, requiring liaison with broader team on stats, key initiatives and outcomes. Manage reporting of new names to the 'brain' database
    • Manage communications for the Mentors, Advisors and Partners - regular newsletter/updates
    • Manage regular internal comms on accelerator activity
    • Ad hoc social media support
  • Event attendance: attend events in the startup community and act as a brand ambassador

Skills Required:

  • Previous marketing and social media experience, 1-2 years ideally (ideally has a strong social media presence of their own and good knowledge of all things social)
  • Team player - we are a small, high-performing, highly interdependent team
  • Exemplary written and oral communication and copy-writing skills a must, including ability to write effective copy - promotional, invitational, social media, web
    • Ability to manage marketing projects, often working autonomously and with a degree of ambiguity - but the humility to ask for help when things are out of your depth
    • Good organisational skills and the ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a high degree of organisation and staying focus on the end objectives
    • Good working knowledge of and skills in Microsoft Office, in particular Excel and PowerPoint as well as social media tools

As a Brook Street contractor you will be entitled to 25 days holiday per annum, 8 days paid Bank Holidays, discounted gym membership, use of the onsite health facility, access to online learning and training, free parking and an excellent subsidised restaurant. In addition, subject to qualification criteria, you will have the potential opportunity to earn bonus.

Salary: £18,000 - £20,000
