Description

Real Life Design are looking for an experienced Drupal developer to work on a variety of projects, ranging from module development, web services integration, Drupal Commerce and data migrations.

We hand pick our clients to ensure all our projects make the best use of our skills. Our focus for working on meaningful projects means our clients succeed while we solve big problems for them.

Our clients include large multi-nationals and growing independent businesses. We build strong relationships with our customers to make their online products relevant and useful to their users.

We're a proactive small team and want to welcome a new Drupal developer ideally with experience in other PHP frameworks.

Working from home will be considered if you can demonstrate a previous arrangement where this has been successful. The important thing is for us to be able to work productively and stay in touch daily to help personal and project cohesion.

----------------------------------------------

The role is ideal for an enthusiastic person who loves coding and problem solving.

Work will consist of a combination of small development projects for existing clients and development on larger challenging projects with detailed architecture and requirements.

Are you...
  • a passionate and opinionated Drupal developer?
  • a pragmatic thinker with the ability to set your own tasks given wider goals?
  • an active contributor to one or more open source projects or Drupal modules?
  • looking for an opportunity to work on some great projects?

  • Do you...
  • proudly tell people about your work?
  • enjoy working with like-minded problem solvers?
  • have an optimistic attitude when it comes to problem solving?
  • seek help from others (online and offline) to overcome challenges?
  • live near (or commutable by car) to our rural location near Guildford, Surrey?

  • Are you familiar with...
  • Drupalisms that make up module development and/or theming?
  • implementing best practices with PHP and Drupal?
  • git, version control and working in a team of developers?
  • Ubuntu desktop and server to configure production and development environments?
  • Front end HTML5, CSS, jQuery/javascript (nice to have).

  • It would be great if...
  • You have a background in systems architecture.
  • You have experience with data migration from legacy systems to Drupal (in particular the Migrate module).
  • Have experience with a range of LAMP server software.
  • Have encountered or interested in using: SASS, Compass, Drupal Omega Theme, responsive design etc.
  • Have an interest in developing for mobile.

  • If any particular points above don't apply to you, please don't be put off! We're reasonable people and don't expect our new recruit to be well versed in absolutely everything (as some job descriptions appear to suggest). We're hiring for attitude and ability to learn. These will be considered equally along with having lots of experience and a diverse skill set. We help and support each other to learn new skills in this fast changing industry.

    What we can offer you....
  • Work with high profile clients.
  • A creative and fulfilling work environment alongside Drupal experts.
  • Space to work alone and collaboration when needed.
  • Support and training in new Drupal niches.
  • Flexible working hours to suit when you work at your best. We're not fixed to 9am-5pm.
  • Rural work location away from the hum-drum of the modern day life.
  • A mixture of support and development work.
  • Unlimited supply of Nespesso coffee.

  • Why work for Real Life Design?
  • We're committed to delivering the very best development projects for our clients.
  • We small enough to listen to all feedback. Our management structure is peer-to-peer than rather than top down. We want your ideas!
  • We solve big problems.
  • We think for ourselves and take pragmatic decisions to get things done. We are a collaboration of independent thinkers- constantly discussing and negotiating our day-to-day development work.
  • We don't natively support Internet Explorer! (enough said?!)
  • We focus on making successful people and companies more successful through our work and advice.
  • We manage our clients expectations to help avoid the usual mad panics.
  • We encourage our clients to adopt an agile approach to development, release products early and take a part in the overall planning of projects.
  • We're serious, hard workers when the heat is on and make ourselves accountable to our commitments.
  • We focus on quality, good coding standards and make time to do things properly.
  • We believe efficiency is king and are always trying to find better ways of working.
  • We reward our hard work with pub lunches, country "talk-and-walk" meetings and occasionally take work/life balance days off.

  • Salary: up to £40k negotiable on experience and skills.
