Responsibilities
- Be the champion of your team
- Hire and mentor world-class engineers. Develop good engineers into great engineers, great ones into awesome ones
- Lead and deliver key engineering initiatives
- Coach engineering teams by fostering best practices: unit testing, code reviews, metrics/data driven decisions and performance testing
- Identify and implement development process and methodology improvements to increase quality of development
- Work with Customer Support and Account Management to respond to customer impacting issues
- Work with Product Management and customers to contribute to the strategic direction of the product and roadmaps
Competencies
- Strong leadership skills developing backend software
- Ability to hire and develop software engineers
- Architecture and hands on engineering background in Cloud/SaaS API based system
- Bonus for experience with Video processing but not required
- Deep understanding of building internet scale, distributed, high availability systems
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and market conditions
- Set and maintain high standards of quality and customer value
- Excellent collaboration skills
- Innovative approach to problem solving
- 2+ years building and leading top notch engineering teams
- Proven track record delivering successful product consistently over multiple years
- Experience delivering and supporting high scale SaaS services
- Experience with an Agile methodology
- Experience with self-managed engineering teams a plus
- Experience with Test Driven Development a plus
