Responsibilities
  • Be the champion of your team
  • Hire and mentor world-class engineers. Develop good engineers into great engineers, great ones into awesome ones
  • Lead and deliver key engineering initiatives
  • Coach engineering teams by fostering best practices: unit testing, code reviews, metrics/data driven decisions and performance testing
  • Identify and implement development process and methodology improvements to increase quality of development
  • Work with Customer Support and Account Management to respond to customer impacting issues
  • Work with Product Management and customers to contribute to the strategic direction of the product and roadmaps

Competencies
  • Strong leadership skills developing backend software
  • Ability to hire and develop software engineers
  • Architecture and hands on engineering background in Cloud/SaaS API based system
  • Bonus for experience with Video processing but not required
  • Deep understanding of building internet scale, distributed, high availability systems
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and market conditions
  • Set and maintain high standards of quality and customer value
  • Excellent collaboration skills
  • Innovative approach to problem solving
Experience
  • 2+ years building and leading top notch engineering teams
  • Proven track record delivering successful product consistently over multiple years
  • Experience delivering and supporting high scale SaaS services
  • Experience with an Agile methodology
  • Experience with self-managed engineering teams a plus
  • Experience with Test Driven Development a plus
