Role: Mechanical Engineer

Location: Didcot, Oxfordshire

Duration: 3+ Months Initially with possible extension

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Installation Mechanical Fitter
  • The Installation Mechanical Fitter will participate in the building of neutron beamlines. They will work with Lead Technicians and Fitters installing and building components and sub-assemblies from engineering drawings. They must know how to set up and align installation jigs and fixtures to achieve installation tolerances required by components and assemblies. They must also have the necessary skills required to complete agreed modifications to supplied components and jigs.

Essential:

  • Solid Mechanical Engineering background
  • Close tolerance assembly skills in a machine build environment
  • Able to read and interpret engineering drawings, general assembly drawings and geometric tolerances.
  • Able to operate a variety of hand tools
  • Working knowledge of all relevant current Health and Safety best practice

Desirable

  • Time served mechanical apprenticeship
  • City and Guilds, NVQ or BTEC qualifications or equivalent of ONC standard minimum
  • Sheet Metal worker
  • Keep accurate installation log book
  • Ability to communicate with project team
  • Current Work at Height, Safe Use of Harness training and MEWP training certificates
  • CSCS Card
