My client are a 1st Tier supplier in the Automotive Industry and have an immediate need for a Logistics Manager on a 6 month contract basis.

Role Purpose:

Responsible and accountable for all aspects of Logistics on site ensuring a satisfactory performance and service to all internal and external customers.

Accountabilities:
  • To lead and develop the Logistics team to achieve all required Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
  • To report on all departmental KPI's as set by the Plant Manager
  • To oversee the co-ordination of activities from customer schedules through procurement to finished goods
  • Regular pro-active interface with customers and suppliers communicating delivery/non delivery performance working with the Purchasing team when necessary
  • Development of shop floor production scheduling
  • To performance manage the Logistics department as required to ensure the achievement of the plan through the team's fulfillment of their roles and responsibilities
  • To oversee the management of inventory costs to a minimum whilst ensuring sufficient stocks on site to enable an uninterrupted flow of production
  • Continual improvement of stock control
  • Accountability for the control of the flow of goods into the company ensuring that materials required for production arrive on time and as economically as possible
  • Ensuring awareness of any market intelligence gained through customer and supplier contact and communicating this to the appropriate departments as appropriate
  • To assist and ensure the Logistics team assist the Value Stream's to plan and prioritise in line with customer requirements and company objectives
  • Implement lean philosophy in supply chain using modern day production systems
  • Provide specific support for lean projects and to be actively involved in implementing lean philosophy across site
  • Forward visibility to drive the capacity planning for the business
  • Work closely with senior management to ensure all customers and shareholder targets are exceeded
  • Identify and implement efficiencies, reduce costs, improve service level and reduce waste in the factory Benchmark the logistics function with industry best practice and seek to introduce new concepts and initiatives to drive continuous improvement

Knowledge and experience:
  • Experience of Lean Manufacturing techniques
  • Experience of demanding customers - OEM/Tier 1
  • Working with a number of different product lines
  • Experience of developing Logistics systems
