This is a highly pressurised area which operates under tight deadlines with the highest of quality expectations from the user community. A proportion of the work involved includes requirements gathering and general development consultancy and it is therefore imperative that staff possess excellent interpersonal skills coupled with exceptional technical ability.
A key attribute required for working within this area is a strong background in enterprise web systems development
The majority of the website development work is based upon templates created in Joomla Content Management System which allows staff to manage the content of the Internet site whilst the structure is maintained by the website development and support function.
The Website is currently hosted externally, therefore part of the work will involve liaison with the external host service provider
It is imperative that the resource provided has a very detailed understanding of the PDF file format including techniques to minimise the size of PDF's whilst still maintaining compatibility and quality. Additionally, much of the work is required at very short notice and in some cases at evenings or weekends.
It is intended to implement the recommendations of a recent website security review and the successful candidate must be capable of advising the organisation in this regard and to implement actions as required.
The organisation intends to merge the existing E-learning 'standalone' website with the existing company website. The successful candidate must be capable of advising and completing any technical work on behalf of the organisation in this regard.
Finally, the successful candidate will be required to accept, design and implement ad-hoc service requests relating to the public facing website, and liaise where required with hosting providers to resolve any technical problems which may arise.
