Description

The primary responsibility of this position is to provide environmental, health and safety regulatory and technical support. As part of the shared service EHS organization, the individual will have a direct reporting relationship with the EHS Hub Manager, who is located at another site. Frequent telephone and email interface with the Hub Manager to discuss progress against objectives, resource needs, and prioritization is expected, and face to face meetings will occur several times per year.

The individual will interface with site leadership on a daily basis. The individual will provide guidance and direction on EHS issues associated with operations, including review of capital projects, management of change procedures, and opportunities to optimize EHS requirements

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Lead Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) programs (including industrial hygiene).
  • Provide technical and regulatory expertise to ensure compliance, safe work places, and continuous improvement of EHS programs. Advise site management of compliance concerns.
  • Provide strategic direction on EHS matters to the site leadership teams.
  • Participate in project reviews to identify EHS issues/opportunities.
  • Participate in incident investigations, root cause determination, and assignment of corrective actions to prevent recurrence Complete regulatory and internal reporting requirements
  • Support implementation of EHS policies and procedures, and develop site specific procedures where warranted
  • Support the interface with regulatory agencies and third parties, as needed, on compliance and enforcement issues.
  • Support implementation of the Responsible Care Management System

SKILLS:

  • BS degree in engineering, technical or science area. Candidates with other BS degrees will also be considered, if combined with excellent relevant experience and skills.
  • 5 years or more of demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise and success in Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene technology and regulations, and program administration
  • Competence/working knowledge of Environmental and Process Safety technology and regulations.
  • Recognition as a certified safety professional (CSP), certified industrial hygienist (CIH), or professional engineer (PE).
  • Experience providing support to multiple sites.
  • Multiple years of experience with chemical manufacturing
