An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Software Test Engineer.Proteus Europe are currently looking for an experienced software test engineer who designs, develops, modifies and evaluates software test plans and test automation frameworks used to test and optimize complex software applications, resolving issues in innovative and practical ways.
This role is for one of our clients based in Cheshire.
The role is involved with planning and privatisation of test design and development activities within an agile framework. The role will be a key contributor to multiple successful projects.
Responsibilities:
Collaborates with agile development teams to design, estimate, develop and execute test procedures and test cases.
Analyses and understands each project's environment, architecture, and interdependencies to determine and apply appropriate test methodologies and cases relative to applications being tested.
Responsible for setting up test environments, execution of tests in pre-live and live test environments, recording results and defects, and providing guidance to developers to reproduce problems and getting them resolved.
Designs, develops, and executes reusable and maintainable automated scripts; plans and executes functional and system level testing of products across all platforms to test various features; applies expertise and understanding of issues that may arise around automated/load testing and assists in researching and providing solutions and to add, modify, or enhance previously recorded automated scripts
Actively supports and proactively improves the company's software engineering and test processes, procedures, standards and customer use cases.
Keeps technically abreast of trends and advancements within area of specialization, incorporating these improvements where applicable; attends technical conferences as appropriate
Works closely with other engineering team members and departments (Software Integration Engineers, Support, Product Management) on technical matters and may interact with third party testers or customers on technical information or modifications related to test design, development, and research projects
Experience - Knowledge Required & Qualifications:
Degree educated with proven commercial experience testing software or supporting enterprise software and customers.
Experience working with agile development teams, release procedures, test methodologies, QA process and software defect tracking; demonstrated ability to apply appropriate test methodologies including writing test plans and test cases, and automated test scripts.
Demonstrated ability to incorporate product quality in software requirements for features and system qualities (including performance and security), product design, software design, estimates, test plans, software product information and bug fixes
Good technical problem solving skills.
In depth knowledge of Windows desktop and server operating systems.
Good understanding of Citrix, VMware, App-V and terminal server environments.
Some understanding of Windows Active Directory, SQL, Networking (LAN/WAN), Load Balancers.
Use of test management tools like TFS/MTM..
Scripting experience with either Powershell / VBScript preferred.
