Main function: You will be working as part of a customer facing team designing and implementing custom versions of the Linux operating system to meet the security requirements of customers. You will be involved in all aspects of the engineering life cycle including design, de-risking/prototyping and implementation.
My client is searching for an experienced Secure Software Engineer to join its growing mobile security team based in Guildford. As part of this team you will be working with customers, as well as sales and technical teams, to specify and implement solutions based on our product portfolio.
You will be joining an established team who are currently building the client's experience in Cyber Security to develop the next generation security solutions for computers and mobile devices.
You will be working as part of a customer facing team designing and implementing custom versions of the Linux operating system to meet the security requirements of customers. You will be joining the project in its infancy and will be involved in all aspects of the engineering life cycle including design, de-risking/prototyping and implementation.
You will be joining as a Software Engineer where you will have an opportunity to drive the direction of a strategic area - a rarity in contracting world!
Essential Requirements
Embedded Linux System Development:
* System configuration (services, users, groups)
* Network routing (using iproute2)
* Firewall configuration (using iptables, nftables)
* Installation of packages, from source if necessary
* Hardware device (and driver) configuration
* Scripting (BASH, modification of BSD-style system initialisation scripts)
* System Compilation (toolchain, Kernel, libraries, userspace, bootloaders)
Desired Requirements
* C/C++ programming experience
* VMware Virtual Machine Administration (particularly use of VMware VIX API)
* Xen Virtual Machine Administration preferable
* Testing experience
