System Safety Engineer

£350 - £400 pay per day
My client, a truly global leader, are looking for an experienced System Safety Engineer to join a busy programme of work.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for:
*Undertaking and planning safety assessment activities, the production or update of Safety Cases and support documentation as required by Project Safety Plans.
*Ensuring that Project safety assessment activities comply with the requirements of the Safety Management System (SMS).
*Ensuring that Safety Cases address the requirements of Project Plans and that they are produced in a timely and effective manner.
*Carrying out Hazard Analysis to define safety requirements, and detailed technical system analysis (on People, Procedures and Equipment) to demonstrate that safety requirements can be met.
*Partaking in audits of suppliers and their sub-contractors' development and integration facilities to ensure that Safety is taken into account during system and software development phases.
The successful candidate will have the below skills:
*Well-proven Safety Assurance Engineering background is essential
*Appreciation of the issues associated with Human Factors and Software.
*Knowledge of the principles and practices of regulation and experience of the work of regulatory bodies eg HSE, SARG.
*Experience of Systems Safety Engineering and Safety Case Construction encompassing electrical, electronic and software engineering, human factors, and building/environmental services (eg HVAC, power distribution).
*Up to date knowledge of national and international standards relating to safety management.
You will also ideally have the following skills and experience:
*Air Traffic Control courses or experience is desirable
*Understanding of challenges facing ATM providers
*Systems engineering experience with high-integrity Real Time systems
*Systems engineering experience with safety-related and/or safety-critical systems
*An understanding of the goals of the Single European Skies ATM Research (SESAR) and the associated SESAR Safety Reference Material.
*Experience in assuring operating systems, hypervisors and Software Assurance provision of assurance in accordance with (EU) Directive and ED109.
*Experience in providing Software Application assurance in a cloud based environment
*Experience in providing software assurance for software developed using Agile development processes.
