Senior Planning Officer - Hertfordshire - 6 month contract - Urgent - £28/hour
Job Description
A local authority based in Hertfordshire, are looking for a senior planning officer to join the team. This is a six month temporary opportunity to work on a mix of minor and major applications, both residential housing applications and commercial. The successful candidate must have experience of handling, coordinating and negotiating planning proposals in a fast based, target driven environment.
Role/responsibilities
As the successful candidate, you will be required to:
- Deal effectively with applications under planning legislation including complex proposals requiring sound knowledge and professionalism.
- Prepare evidence for planning appeals up to and including a complex level and appear as Council witness at public inquiries and hearings.
- Take on a caseload of major planning applications, both in residential and commercial.
Skills/qualifications
As the successful applicant you will need to:
- Be educated to degree or equivalent level in a professional discipline relevant to the post or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience at this level.
- Have some experience in a town planning environment, preferably within local authority.
- Have good customer care skills, ability to meet deadlines, and team working skills.
- A competent level of IT skills (Microsoft Office).
