Role: Senior Java Developer
Contract Length: 3-6 months with the potential of numerous extensions
Daily Rate: DOE
Location: Cork
As a Senior Java Developer Engineer you will join the Big Data Team. You will design, develop and deploy data-driven software to solve business problems using the most appropriate techniques in Java and "Big Data" (their data is actually big).
Your role will also be to develop and maintain Java Spring applications and you will be responsible for enhancing applications
As a senior Java Developer you will also be responsible for writing functional and technical designs following templates as well as generating excellent code and unit tests.
You will join a highly skilled development team whereby you will be expected to bring innovative and creative ideas to the project. You will have the freedom to play with new technologies and express your opinion on what direction the project needs to go in.
Skills and Experience
- Expert in Java - at least 6+ years experience
- Strong level of Spring Core and spring integration
- Experience with Test Driven Development using JUnit or EasyMock
- Experience with Maven
- A strong understanding of GoF Design Patterns , Enterprise application patterns or Sub's J2EE patterns and anti - patters
- Unix experience in essential
Desirable skills:
- Pig Latin scripting language
- Exposure to hadoop, MapReduce, Hive would also be a huge advantage
- Experience working in a SCRUM environment
- Proven experience or knowledge of Eclipse based IDE's, Subversion, Maven
- (Any experience or interest with Big Data would be a huge advantage)
