Senior / Principal Geotechnical EngineerOur client is a specialist in the development and management of the built and natural environment, as well as the exploration and production of oil, gas and other natural resources. They are now looking for a Senior / Principal Geotechnical Engineer to now join their offices in either Edinburgh or Glasgow and to help on a rapid expansion which will offer a diverse and interesting role.
The successful candidate will have a strong geotechnical background along with line management experience.
Responsibilities
- Proposal/tender writing - technical and commercial level
- Project management (including financial control, resource management and reporting)
- Covering a wide range of development projects
- Commercial awareness
Requirements
- Degree ideally in geotechnical engineering or soil mechanics
- Chartered member of a professional association
- At least 6 years experienceinageotechnical consulting role, with experience of the following competencies:
- Foundation design
- Basement design
- Ground improvement
- Retaining structures
- Slope stability
- Use of and compliance with Eurocodes
- Settlement analysis
- Finite element analysis
- Geotechnical modelling software
- Geotechnical desk studies
- Strong client management skills with proven success in developing and maintaining client contacts
- Self-starter, team player with strong inter-personal skills and proactive character
- Excellent written and oral communication skills essential
- Thorough knowledge of relevant legislation, technical guidance & codes of practice
