Description
Responsibilities:- Responsible for support, facilitation, and implementation of health and safety programs designed to assure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements.
- Occasional support of other sites will also be required.
- Provide technical and regulatory expertise to ensure occupational safety and environmental compliance at the respective sites, as part of a zero incident mindset.
- Provide strategic leadership and work with management on identified EHS issues/recommendations/opportunities to foster continuous improvement of EHS programs and culture.
- Ensure all EHS program elements are developed under the principles of Operations Line Management Accountability for EHS.
- Assist sites with implementation of corporate standardized EHS policies and procedures, included but not limited to OSHA Laboratory Standard, Safe Work Permits, Job Safety Analysis, Management of Change, Incident/Accident investigation, lockout/tagout, confined space entry, hot work permits, forklift and elevated surfaces work, hoists and cranes, electrical safety, and ergonomics.
- Participate in capital project reviews consistent with the level of industrial hygiene and safety expertise needed.
- Waste management program coordination for respective sites.
- Support emergency response activities through the development of required drills and coordination of annual training.
- Use of the corporate Environmental Management tool to ensure EHS tasks are identified and completed at the sites.
- Support the interface with regulatory agencies and third parties, as needed, on compliance and enforcement issues.
- Provide field presence and support on daily basis to include but not limited to field audits/inspections and coordinate/track findings.
- Prepare materials for safety meetings and facilitate staff safety meetings as needed.

Required Experience/Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree (or higher) plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS and/or Operations within the manufacturing industry OR an Associates degree with 10+ years of experience in EHS and/or Operations within the manufacturing industry OR high school diploma plus 15 or more years of experience in the safety field or process operations in manufacturing industry.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Expertise in both occupational safety, and working knowledge of hazardous waste.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to interact with site level manufacturing/business management.
- Ability to interact with state and federal regulatory agencies.
- MS Office proficiency needed.
- Familiar with standard laboratory equipment and procedures.
- Professional certification - Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, or Professional Engineer.
- Degree in Engineering, Safety, Chemistry, Emergency Response or related field(s).
- Experience in a Laboratory environment.
- Experience with emergency planning and response.
- Working knowledge of process safety and environmental regulations and technology.
- Additional experience in Environmental Programs is desirable, but not required.
