Software Development Engineer (Java) in Test required to join our agile team based in Victoria, London.
This will be an initial 6 month contract working on a Government based project and requires a talented and self-driven individual with at least 5 years exposure to development within Java or Ruby. The ideal candidate must be able to liaise with Product Owners and Business Analysts to understand business rationale behind stories and also collaborate effectively with other developers to ensure that our test suite is efficient, clean and easy to maintain. The primary responsibility for this role will be to lead the on-going development of our acceptance test suite, written in Cucumber and Selenium. It will involve working closely with the test lead and the other developers. It may also involve core (non-test) software development (using Java and the Node.js framework) if the candidate is interested in this.
Essential aptitude, skills and experience required.
Experience coordinating user acceptance testing. Ability to jointly agree and write BDD features in clear and concise plain English. Experience developing code for automated tests, preferably using Cucumber Expertise in development using Java and/or Scala and a good understanding of their associated community. Working knowledge of command line tools (eg bash), version control (eg using Git), CI (eg using Jenkins).
