My client operates as a unitary authority which enables them to take a holistic approach to the city's educational needs and speed up the decision making process. The city is a vibrant place offering a diverse population to work among, while the role will give you the opportunity to manage some of our excellent services Including the School Improvement Service, Ethnic Minority Achievement Service, Music Service and Governors Support Service.

This role will be responsible for the overall management of a service unit - ensuring discharge of the statutory responsibilities in relation to schools (local authority maintained and academies); management and deployment of resources in line with corporate frameworks; responsibilities in relation to inspection frameworks.

Key tasks will include:

clarifying the 'early years education function ' following the integration of children's centres and health visiting; refreshment of the self-evaluation and evidence base in preparation for Ofsted inspection; and commissioning and aligning deployment of Education Improvement Officers resource and overseeing quality assurance of work across key phases.
