POSITION SUMMARY:

The SharePoint Administrator position will provide senior level architecture, design, support, administration, configuration, and development of Dakota County SharePoint Sites. This includes intra- and Internet portals, extranets, and team sites. The Administrator level III will also be responsible for the development of training materials, managing SharePoint governance, and for mentoring other technical staff and site managers.

The SharePoint Administrator will gather user requirements and direct the work of infrastructure and application development staff toward the development of web applications and communications accessed from the SharePoint portals. This includes documenting requirements as well as creating functional and technical specifications, test plans, and system and user documentation. The candidate will also recommend updates and enhancements to Dakota County SharePoint sites along with any related tools and supplemental web parts used throughout the production life cycle.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Functions of the Position):

  • Support, configure, and develop the SharePoint environments, which include company's main Intranet portal, team sites and other Extranet initiatives.
  • Maintain and administer SharePoint services, including search, content hub and excel services.
  • Develop, configure and maintain document libraries, enterprise lists and site collections.
  • Manage SharePoint end user accounts, permissions and access rights in accordance with best-practices regarding privacy and security.
  • Support end users with all SharePoint related issues.
  • Develop training materials and provide training to users with varying levels of skills.
  • Assist in the definition, development, and documentation of business requirements, objectives, deliverables, and specifications on a project-by-project basis in collaboration with users, stakeholders, and customers.
  • Assist with software development project plans, including scoping, scheduling, and implementation.
  • Test recommended, emerging SharePoint and application development software products, languages, and standards in support of procurement and development efforts.
  • Assist with efficient implementation of new software products, tools or systems and for resolution of any adaptation issues.
  • Assist with software improvements and upgrades.
  • Liaise with network administrators, systems analysts, and software engineers to assist in resolving problems with SharePoint framework, sites, and information.
  • Enhance SharePoint functionality and/or performance as necessary.
  • Generate website statistics and reports as needed, using custom or packaged tools.
  • Develop and maintain user and technical manuals and guidelines.
  • Work with desktop support staff on deployment of necessary end user software.
    • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Five or more years of experience administering SharePoint applications
  • Certification for SharePoint is preferred
  • Possess a strong understanding of application portfolio's including infrastructure
  • SharePoint development and/or design is preferred

SKILLS/ABBILITIES

  • Experience with SharePoint fundamentals including out of the box web parts, lists, content types, workflows, templates and master pages.
  • Understanding of SharePoint administration including management of service applications, web applications, site collection administration, solution deployment, and backup/restore via Central Administration and PowerShell.
  • Experience using SharePoint Designer and deploying solutions.
  • Understanding of InfoPath forms development and deployment.
  • Relational database and operating systems experience with MS SQL database, integration and reporting solutions to be integrated with the SharePoint farm preferred.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Visual Studio and Web systems architecture is a plus
  • Prior experience interviewing end-users for insight on functionality, interface, problems, and/or usability issues.
  • Experience developing test cases and test plans.
  • Experience in Information architecture and taxonomy development is a plus
  • Able to communicate effectively with technical as well as non-technical staff.
  • Flexible and adaptable in regards to learning and understanding new technologies.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree is required
