Cloud Network Engineer
Location: Suwanee, GA 30024
9 month contract
$45-60/hr depending on experience
Potential for perm for top notch candidate
Mostly doing switching - must have both Cisco IOS and Nexus OS
Some routing - more customer specific
Primary job will be to build and turnover to another team to manage
100% project based
SUMMARY
This role is responsible for the provisioning, deployment, and ongoing operations and maintenance of customer Internet services and managed switch services. This would include IP block/address assignments, switch/Router configurations, managed switch builds, and knowledge of data center network infrastructure. Duties include troubleshooting customer network connectivity issues, maintaining and recommending improvements to the production network, working with other Networking teammates, documentation, working on projects, and performing other related duties as required
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Proficient hands-on experience and understanding of fundamental networking concepts and protocols such as: VLAN/PVLAN, HSRP, OSPF, VTP, STP, BGP. Increasing understanding of a wider set of protocols and advanced technologies
Solid knowledge and experience working with networking hardware components such as supervisor engines, line cards, interfaces and modules, optics and optical networking
Proficient understanding and experience using configuration management and/or diagnostic tools, monitoring applications and performance analysis tools
Experience in an operational role working directly with internal and external customers, trouble ticketing systems, and incident management
Experience working with distributed, complex enterprise deployments including: multi-tiered environments, virtualization technologies, operating systems, routing, monitoring, storage connectivity, capacity planning, backups, network security
Hands on experience configuring, testing, troubleshooting on Cisco routing and switching platforms like Cisco ASR, Catalyst and Nexus platforms.
Knowledge and hands on experience with DWDM Optical infrastructure and Dark/lit service technologies
Experience with DDOS and traffic mitigation techniques
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
3+ years networking infrastructure IT experience
1+ years' service provider experience preferably in a Data Center environment.
Certification in CCNA, CCNP or equivalent experience
