Description

This entry level position is responsible for the daily operational support of the System & Network Operations Center (SNOC). The SNOC is the nerve center for the proactive monitoring of all data and voice networks. This includes Servers, network devices, applications, databases, voice systems, and energy management systems.
Duties:
Analyzing/Troubleshooting UNIX server configurations and processes
Analyzing/Troubleshooting Microsoft server configurations and processes
Basic database administration
Monitoring network traffic, analysing network problems and performance
Responding to alerts from system monitors & performing first level problem identification/resolution
Issuing tickets for problem escalation
Performing batch scheduling functions, including monitoring and execution
This position works 12 hour shifts in order to provide 7 x 24 x 365 support

SKILLS:
Qualifications:
An associate's or bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline is preferred but equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
Strong problem solving and communication skills (verbal and written)
Strong multitasking ability & effective knowledge transfer skills
Highly motivated, creative thinker with proven ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in a production support environment
IT Helpdesk or PC support experience
Network & Windows troubleshooting skills
Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating system
