My client, an executive agency and a trading fund of the UK Government requires a Structural Engineer for an initial 6 month contract position paying up to £330 per day based in London with some overseas travel. SC Clarence at present or in the past is desirable but not a deal breaker!

The job holder will work in a multi-disciplined team, providing specialist input and design advice on structural engineering works to a wide and varied range of world-wide projects.

As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the job holder will act as Structural Engineer on selected projects from inception to completion, assisting the project manager to ensure closure is reached to quality, time and budget. Assisting in the engagement of customers, stakeholders and end-users and problem solving along the way. As Civil/Structural Engineer, the job will require the management of appointed external consultants and contractors to ensure that projects meet the technical brief and management of financial resources in order to ensure value for money is achieved.

Knowledge/Skills Required:

Essential:

*Chartered Professional Civil/Structural Engineering qualification - Chartered Engineer registered with the Engineering Council (CEng)
*Minimum 5 years post qualification experience in the field
*Corporate member of professional Engineering body ie Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (MICE) or Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (MIStructE)
*Proven track record in leading design and construction teams through project management processes
*Knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation as applied in a civil/structural engineering context
*Good interpersonal and communication skills - both written and verbal
*Good financial management skills
*Knowledge of Design Software: AutoCAD, REVIT, Vectorworks, Sketch-up & Photoshop etc., Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel and Project

Desirable:

*Knowledge of Embassy & Residence Security requirements and secure fit-outs
*Experience of working overseas
*Current SC security clearance (applicants may be required to successfully complete the DV vetting procedure)

It should be pointed out that previous Building experience will be recquired to meet the recquirements of the role. There will be opportunity to work with external consultants and be involved with reviewing during the design process.
