I am a professional with over 8 years of dedicated contribution to the field of sustainable power systems. Throughout my academic and career journey, I have personified behaviors such as persistence, hard work, dedication, and a can-do attitude. My passion for tackling exciting technical challenges has been a driving force in my professional career.
I hold a Master's Degree in Electrical and Computers Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering at Porto University (FE/UP). My educational background comprises a strong foundation of power systems, programming and automation. Combined with hands-on experience acquired on professional context, turns me into a versatile professional capable of delivering outstanding results.
During my Master Degree, I started to build a strong foundation in software development. This expertise was further solidified, over the past 5 years, by developing complex electrical simulation models using a range of programming languages, including C++, C, Python, and Fortran. Furthermore, I supported on several grid integration studies (running simulations, producing reports,...) and, in this context, I have managed a High Performance Computing simulation cluster in Azure Cloud for PSCAD simulations: cost control, scalability, access management, system desired state, etc.
On my current role, I am developing a Passenger Information System for a train operator, in a monorepo with microservices architecture, in a small team. This has been allowing me to acquire experience on Web Development using Node.JS and MariaDB for the backend and Svelte for the frontend. Cybersecurity and CI/CD pipelines for testing, linting, dependency management, building, SAST (Static Application Security Testing), etc. are also adopted in this project.
On previous positions I have worked with deep power system concepts like stability, control, protection systems, power generation, power electronics, renewables... I used many different simulation software that I now master, especially the dynamic simulation modules of: PSS/E, DigSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, TSAT, EMTP-RV...
If you are seeking a passionate and skilled professional who thrives on challenges and is committed to delivering excellence, I am eager to bring my expertise to your projects. Kindly have a further look to both my resume and web site where you can find much more information about my profile like portfolio, education, publications, skills, etc. Please don't hesitate reaching out to me if you have any question.

Let's collaborate to create something truly exceptional together!

Development of a Passenger Information System, from scratch, to be installed in all Portuguese train fleet. The project comprises:
  • Database management - MariaDB
  • API Development - REST
  • Monorepo in Gitlab
  • Microservices Architecture using Single Board Computers connected via LAN throughout the train composition
  • Server (Node-JS) - Client (Svelte in Electron-Vite) configuration
  • Integration with other train systems like tachometers, doors, air conditioning, internet routers... using many different interfaces, like serial port, IBIS-IP, MVB (Multifunction Vehicle Bus), etc.
  • Integration of audio devices and displays with different roles in the system
  • Integration of GPS sources
  • Adoption of latest Cybersecurity measures
  • Maintenance applications and integration of external data suppliers

Functional leadership in electrical simulation models development, which comprises, beyond the responsibilities of the previous Power Systems Assistant Lead Engineer role:
  •     Sign-off product design and technical decisions
  •     Quality assurance of deliverables executed by the team
  •     Continuous constructive feedback to team members making them grow technically
  •     Development of product strategy by considering inputs from stakeholders and technical requirements coming from power utilities and customers
  •     Project definition according to product strategy and monitoring of project activities
  •     Coordination of activities within the Team and interfacing teams, like Technical Sales and Consulting teams
  •     Promotion of knowledge sharing within and outside Vestas (by, for example, contributing to technical papers, conferences, and standardization working groups)
  •     Support on grid studies for various site projects (amongst others):
    •         Golden Plains - AU
    •         Kennedy Energy Park (KEP) - AU
    •         Rye Park - AU
    •         Dundonnell - AU
    •         Lal Lal Wind Farms (Elaine + Yendon) - AU
    •         Las Majadas - US
    •         Ramme green amonia plant - DK

Bruno was a Functional Leader of the Team. He was key to defining and prioritizing the tasks to be executed within the projects in which the team was involved. He was responsible to guarantee quality and sign-off deliverables produced by his team, which was located both in Portugal and Denmark.

Since Vestas Wind Systems A/S has been intensively recruiting, Bruno had a key role in selecting, driving thetraining, and ramping up the team members.

Bruno has led a technical Business Support process with successful results.
