Project history
Development of a Web-Based Beauty Trend Intelligence Platform for data-driven identification of emerging product trends and market opportunities. The objective is to detect early on which beauty products could become relevant for German drugstores over the next 6–18 months.
Numerical product assortments and new listings from Sephora US, Olive Young US, Douglas, dm, and Rossmann are regularly ingested.
New and selected products are analyzed via a multi-stage DeepSeek pipeline. This structured extraction covers product type, target audience, consumer needs, benefits, claims, ingredients, texture, application, packaging format, colors, and packaging design. OpenAI embeddings and hybrid semantic search enable product comparisons, similarity searches, and complex queries.
Additional core components include a macro-trend dataset, trend manifestations, assortment comparisons, and the step-by-step development of robust whitespace, trend, and product opportunity analyses. All analytical workflows are initially executed manually via a secured dashboard, stored with version control, and validated through quality checks. In the long term, the system aims to combine product data, market shifts, news, and social media signals into continuous trend snapshots and actionable product recommendations.
