Communications team leader: Umande Trust (www@umande.org), a right-based water and
sanitation civil society organization involved in designing and developing innovative water,
sanitation and hygiene facilities and other community empowerment programmes in poor urban
people's settlement. As a team reader, I;
* Coordinated organizational branding
* Handled media relations in the organization as well as designing and production of media kits
* Revamped and created content for Umande Trust's Website, Twitter and Facebook accounts and
podcasts
* Coordinated the design and production of Umande Trust's quarterly newsletter
* Took lead in development and production of human interest stories, most significant change
stores and information education communication materials
* Did rapporteur ring for both internal and external organization's events, meetings and workshops

I managed the Oxfam programme at Umande trust that included several projects on Water and
Sanitation, Human Rights and Economic Empowerment.
* Community Empowerment to Access and Demand Justice: - a governance and advocacy
programme targeting small scale traders in Nairobi's informal settlements; supported by
European Union (EU), and jointly implemented by Oxfam, Umande Trust and Kenya Private
Sector Alliance (KEPSA)
- Together with KEPSA, trained Journalists in Nairobi on project's aspects and explored
areas of cooperation
- Mobilized and trained small scale traders in Nairobi's informal settlements on the project
aspects
- Mobilized and trained the then Nairobi's Provincial administration officers (D.O's, chiefs
and assistant chiefs in Nairobi on Human Rights and safe business spaces




* Kenya Urban Development Programme: Empowerment for youth and water for all - A three year
water and sanitation programme targeting the youth in Mukuru, Korogocho and Kibera slums
- Fundraised for construction of 5 sanitation facilities (bio-centres) and 8 water kiosks
