Project history
Founded a Dubai-based open-source product company. Designed and shipped django-email-learning (BSD 3-Clause Django library), built InboxAcademy as a hosted SaaS platform, developed a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server connecting LLMs to course content for AI-assisted authoring and quiz generation. Owns the full stack end-to-end including backend APIs, data schemas, infrastructure, frontend, documentation, and open-source community.
Key contributor to backend modernisation, migrating legacy Python 2 services to async Python 3 microservices using FastAPI. Applied Domain-Driven Design and Hexagonal Architecture on GCP native primitives (Cloud Run, Datastore). Served as release owner coordinating with QA and engineering. Contributed to payment integration development across the platform.
Modernised legacy Django infrastructure, upgraded framework and dependencies, introduced Renovate for automated dependency management and technical-debt control. Containerised services with Docker and migrated from a single-instance deployment to Google Cloud Run for a more scalable, cost-effective GCP footprint.
