Network Engineer, Network Implementation

* Supported the LAN infrastructure for over 30,000 United States Postal Service locations by
performing site survey, network design, equipment ordering, installation, configuration, and
troubleshooting of a diverse network of Cisco layer 2 & layer 3 switches, wireless LAN
controllers, and access points for both data and VoIP operations. Also Interfaced with long
haul carriers regarding WAN issues. Responsibilities also included performing site upgrades,
documentation, and some technical writing.

* Worked on a project to migrate over 500 Juniper core and edge routers (E-320, ERX-1440, and
MX-960) for a major telecommunications carrier by adding management, network monitoring
capabilities, and security to the devices.

* As one of five team leads on the project, my responsibilities included training engineers on
JUNOS and JUNOSe command structure, worked with the client to ensure accuracy of MOPs,
configuration and performed QA of devices during Night of Cut activities.

* Responsible for evaluating customer network/data and identification/implementation of
technical solutions interacting with customers, engineers, telecommunication managers, key
technical personnel and contracted vendor representatives to ensure end-to-end solutions.
Serves as technical advisor for AT&T Global Managed Services (MRS/EVPN/OS/MIS/INCS/AVTS)
customers taking lead role in providing technical solutions. Must be able to dynamically
multitask on diverse issues and work in a fast pace SLA driven environment.
* Responsibilities include but not limited to troubleshooting and providing remote network
support of routers and switches using variety of routing protocols often working in leading
edge Technologies including MPLS, QoS, VoIP (CUCM, CUBE, SONUS 5K,& UCS, Avaya Legend, Merlin,
and Partner processors), BGP4, HSRP, WCCP, and design and execution of network solutions. Acts
as a subject matter expert and/or as a technical advisor assisting customers with router and
CSU configuration. Applies knowledge of architectural and environmental platforms to CPE
design at customer's site to support total circuit integration. Writes complex technical
and/or user documentation in a clear and concise manner, develops, coordinates, and schedules
shared learning technical training sessions. A demonstrable knowledge and experience is a MUST
in areas of Data-Networking to include Cisco and/or Nortel, 3COM Routers, Riverbed, F5,
TCP/IP, and Circuit troubleshooting. Also used telemetry to collect NetFlow data and capture
traffic as needed.

* Document all trouble-related activities and information in Remedy trouble ticketing system.
Ensure the accuracy of all relevant fields to support SLA reporting.

* Installed and checked operation of wideband and earth terminal communications systems that
operated in X, C, and Ku frequency bands. Maintained, assembled, programmed, adjusted, and
secured system components. Reviewed technical instructions, plans, and installation drawings
to install wideband and earth terminal equipment and systems. Ensured high quality circuits
for long distance information relay. Employed orbiting communication satellite, line of sight,
and tropospheric scatter techniques. Conducted tests to restore and maintain systems. Assessed
systems and aligns and adjusts equipment for optimum system performance. Tested wire
communications equipment such as teletypewriters, and telephone carrier and repeater
equipment. Used antijam equipment such as the AN-USC/28 system to neutralize effects of
communication jamming. Performed and managed equipment alignment and calibration to satisfy
system operational requirements.

* Participated in site survey to ensure equipment location meets operational requirements.
Established communications links and interconnects communication facilities by using RS-232,
EIA-530, Fiber optic, and CAT-5 wiring standards. Deployed wireless communications equipment,
cryptological devices digital modems, IDNX/ Promina nodes, and multiplexers. Installed
Lucent/Avaya PBX systems, and maintained Nortel DMS-100 switches. Performed DS0 toT3
installation and turn up. Provided full voice and data services for key personnel on short
notice and within strict timeframes. Supervised a team of six technicians, managed overall
projects, and developed manuals and procedures.
