The client, an important Belgian bank, was struggling with managing and synchronizing new
releases and deployments, due to a massive monolithic backend that became an ever increasing
pain to evolve as it growed.
* Refactored 90% of legacy code and ensured a 100% smooth migration to a new
service-oriented architecture by leveraging cloud solutions and splitting the monolith in
multiple microservices.
* Ensured a 100% independence of domain teams by eliminating release and deployment
bottlenecks using GitLab CI/CD pipelines for the microservices.
Skills: .NET, TypeScript, Node.js, REST, gRPC, SOAP, RabbitMQ, MS SQL, T-SQL, Swagger, xUnit,
SpecFlow, PetaPoco, NHibernate, AWS, OpenShift, Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker, ElasticSearch,
Dynatrace, GitLab CI/CD, DDD, SOLID.

Electron microscopy in Life Sciences R&D
The client, a market leader in electron microscopy, had ever increasing customer dissatisfaction
by lacking support for haptic control of the microscope. Also, the architecture lacked a clear
separation of concerns, causing considerable maintenance.
* Greatly improved the user experience by reducing workflow durations by 50% by leading a
team of 5 and coordinating with a network of 30+ peers to create a successful proof of
concept integrating input devices with seamless haptic control.
* Eliminated more than 200k lines of obsolete code by designing a state of the art architecture
granting loose coupling and even allowing for remote operation of the microscope.
Skills: .NET Core, xUnit, SOLID principles, C++, Boost, Windows COM, TICS.

Healthcare system backend
The client's legacy monolithic backend was struggling to keep up with the amount of traffic
having only 90% availability as well as major propagation delays throughout the pipelines.
* Achieved high scalability with near 100% availability by designing and implementing a
successful MVP that shaped the migration from the legacy monolithic architecture to a
cloud-based microservices one.
* Greatly improved the pipeline's throughput and scalability by designing a modern CQRS-based
architecture, also lowering data propagation times from ~20 minutes to under 3 minutes.
Skills: ASP.NET Core, Entity Framework, MS SQL, WebAPI, REST, gRPC, xUnit, Docker, Kubernetes,
AWS, CQRS, Event Sourcing, DDD.
