Mr. Alvarado has more than 20 years of experience in electrical engineering; he also has a vast experience in management of multidisciplinary projects in a mining environment. He is considered as a world authority on trolley assist applications in open cast mines, with consulting works for diverse mining operations worldwide. He designed and specified the trolley assist systems of Grootegeluk mine, which resulted in an improvement of the system utilisation.
He has rendered consulting services in electric engineering and automatic control for different mining related projects both in South Africa and abroad.
Mr Alvarado has more than 15 years of multidisciplinary engineering management experience. This was obtained as Manager Engineering Development of Exxaro’s - Grootegeluk Mine.
He was responsible for the mine’s asset care strategic planning and implementation. During these period, Mr Alvarado accumulate a world of experience in “asset care”, “multidisciplinary engineering projects”, “contractor management”, “project engineering”, technology management”, “risk assessment”, “energy and water usage efficiency”, “engineering resources planning and budgeting” amongst other specialised engineering fields.
Mr. Alvarado is proficient in Spanish, English and Afrikaans.
Mr. Alvarado is married and besides its professional career, he is also interested in outdoor activities, sports and scientific reading.
