Description
Our client, Europe's leading independent provider of IT infrastructure services, are currently seeking a number of AIX Consultant to workon a contract basis. Initially the contracts will be approx. 3-4 months in duration and all work is to be completed remotely.
Due to the confidentiality of our clients work, the role requires the successful applicant to hold security clearance to SC Level or be will and able to undergo the Vetting process to achieve this.
Job Responsibilities:
- Progress reporting of individual pipeline
- Input to forward LPAR migration planning & scheduling
- Maintaining RunBooks
- Create Ad-hoc CRs
- Technical queries on CRs
- Migration risk analysis & mitigating actions
- Service risk analysis
- Collaborating with the team to identify and fix technical problems
Key Technical Skills:
- In depth knowledge of IBM VIO server v2 and v3, (both VSCSI and NPIV for Storage)
- In depth knowledge of IBM AIX v5.3, 6.1 and 7.1
- A good understanding of IBM's clustering software
- Power HA Version 6 and Version 7
- GPFS V3 and V4 desirable
- Good understanding of Live Partition Mobility (LPM) and other LPAR migration methods
- A good understanding of the Network Installation Manager (NIM) install process, including trouble-shooting failed installations
- Ability to converse with a technical and non-technical audience
- Raise CR's where needed to cover technical work
- Conform to communicated Client UNIX Engineering standards
- Resource validation for migrations and moves with schedulers
- Decommission of source profiles post migration for LPAR migrations
- Action of UNIX LPAR migration runbook tasks
- Interface with Application SME, Service Manager and other Client technical resources for troubleshooting and testing where required
