Audit Specialist - £ per day - Edinburgh - ASAP Start
Harvey Nash's public sector client are looking for an Audit specialist to carry out and audit over the next couple of months. We are looking for a trained Audit specialist to assist them with this work on a contract basis.
Over the past 4 years around 40 projects have received a form of financial support from our client. Including over £40 million in a number of large scale capital demonstrator projects as well as over 30 earlier stage feasibility and business case projects
The programme will be audited for the first time in September 2019 and this audit will cover funding application, approval and award processes as well as procurement and grant management. In order to best prepare we are seeking the support of a trained auditor to help us prepare for this.
Main Duties
- Review the documentation we have in relation to, funding assessment and approval, project activities and spend;
- Assess the audit trail relating to project decision making across both capital and earlier stage projects;
- Highlight gaps, inconsistencies or issues in existing documentation
- Provide advice on if an how these could be addressed in advance of the audit and support the team to implement improvements (it may be there is information available that is not filed appropriately)
- Following the completion of the European audit the individual will set up any new processes or procedures that will improve Programme performance moving forward.
Essential Criteria
- Proven track record of working in complex financial environment
- An understanding of public sector accounting and audit requirements and processes
- Experience of working in a large team
- Excellent communication and engagement skills, communicating complex and sensitive information to a range of colleagues at all levels, including ministers.
