Role Purpose
Plan and execute all of the tasks that pertains to the life cycle of a data mining and analysis project.
Principle Tasks And Responsibilities
Predictive Modeling & Segmentation
Understand the work request objectives and requirements from a business perspective, then converting this knowledge into a data mining problem definition and a preliminary plan designed to achieve the objectives.
Starting with an initial data collection, proceed with activities in order to get familiar with the data, to identify data quality problems, to discover fi rst insights into the data or to detect interesting subsets to form hypotheses.
Construct the fi nal dataset (data that will be fed into the modelling tool(s) from the initial raw data. Tasks include table, record and attribute selection as well as transformation and cleaning of data for modelling tools.
Select and apply various modelling techniques and calibrate their parameters to optimal values.
Before proceeding to fi nal deployment of the model, thoroughly evaluate the model and review the steps executed to construct the model to be certain it properly achieves the business objectives.
Determine if there is some important business issue that has not been sufficiently considered.
Analysis
Track the results of mass and targeted campaigns according to predefined revenue recognition formulae.
Perform post campaign diagnostics on mass and targeted campaigns.
Perform strategic analyses to identify revenue boosting, profit maximizing and/or churn reduction opportunities.
Key Performance Indicators
Campaign revenue measured against a control group
Contribution margins from campaigns
Revenue loss due to churn
% reduction on churn rate
Number of scoring models delivered
% of scoring models delivered on time
% of misclassifications in the models' confusion matrices
Average model lift at required population cut off point
Number of applied research projects delivered
Required Background& Qualifications
Bachelors or masters degrees in a quantitative discipline with at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
Strong skills in the intersection between data mining, business analysis and client consulting.
Ability and desire to meet with internal clients, understand their needs, and generate appropriate, innovative technical solutions.
Programming ability in any of the following technologies is desirable: SAS, SPSS, R, SQL, KXEN, Shell Scripting
