Description
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Data Engineer/ETL Developer to join our government client on a data warehousing project. You'll be working alongside the current data warehouse project team to support the creation, and subsequent maintenance of the client's enterprise data warehouse by providing data engineering innovation and domain expertise.
The Data Engineer/ETL Developer will use stakeholder requirements to turn data into critical information and knowledge to support business priorities. Ultimately the Data Engineer will help apply data warehousing principles and methodologies to improve data quality, reporting and analysis across the government client and its wider stakeholders in government and industry.
To do this effectively, you will need to have a technical understanding of data warehousing in order to contribute to discussions about the technical design with the development team. This role will cover a variety of different business areas and helps support the provision of BI throughout the organisation.
Required Skills/Experience
- Minimum 5 years data warehousing experience
- Excellent understanding of dimensional modelling, specifically Kimball methodology
- MS SQL Server/SSIS
- PL/SQL & T-SQL
- Agile Scrum/Kanban project management
- Jira/Zephyr
Desirable Experience
- Oracle 12c
- XML/Xpath/XQuery
- MS Power BI
- SAP BI
- Geospatial data/systems
You'll be initially working from home but if required, on-site at the client's location (by British Museum).
£350 - £500/day (dependent on skills and experience).
You must be eligible to work in the UK and be capable of achieving government security clearance.
