Designated Safeguarding Lead & Manager

Salary: £27,041 (£117 per day) + Private Medical

Permanent Term-time Contract plus 2 weeks

Keighley, West Yorkshire

Pipeline Keighley is a dedicated alternative provision for young people aged 11 - 16 who, for many reasons, have become disengaged from mainstream education. We specialise in Cookery and Sports as well as delivering English and Maths to all pupils. We are now looking to appoint an experienced and passionate Designated Safeguarding Lead & Manager to join our dedicated and growing team.

Key Responsibilities


  • Overall management and legal compliance of safeguarding in the Provision
  • Attending all external meetings that relate to the safeguarding of pupils
  • Ensuring all safeguarding protocols are followed on a day to day basis at all times
  • Managing the behaviour of pupils and their attendance at all times
  • Supporting staff in ensuring they are carrying out their duties correctly and their wellbeing is supported
  • Managing and leading a team
  • Meeting all new pupils, their parents/carers and teachers, and selling the features & benefits of the Provision

This role will also receive support from the Director who will oversee induction training and CPD.

Skills & Experience

Essential


  • A working knowledge of safeguarding policies and practices in an education setting
  • A natural ability to engage and motivate staff
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Experience of managing and leading a small team
  • Practical experience of conflict management
  • A proven track record of working with vulnerable young people
  • A natural ability to engage and motivate young people with multiple and complex needs
  • A knowledge of the many barriers to learning that affect disengaged and disaffected young people
  • A knowledge of the risks that many disengaged and disaffected young people experience, including CSE and CCE
  • A knowledge of the risks of young people online and of keeping safe
  • Good attention to detail and organised

Desirable


  • Experience of wellbeing
  • Recognised mediation training
  • Autism Awareness training
  • First Aid training
