As an Expert Telecom, you will build expertise and be technically responsible for your specific domain within the Expertise Secondary Systems team.

Job description/Tasks
The scope of duties focuses on the "passive" part of the telecommunications equipment:
• You are technically responsible for the passive part of the telecom equipment.
• This concerns therefore: all the necessary equipment for optical fiber connections (both between sites and within a site between buildings) and copper Ethernet connections, 19inch cabinets, ... as well as for the interface between the Secondary Systems (security, DCS, ...) and the active telecommunications equipment (TDM, MPLS, ...).
• Technical management of the existing framework agreements for the "passive" telecom equipment between the company and the suppliers (optical fiber cable, HDPE tubes, 19inch cabinets, optical fiber patch panels/patchcords/...).
• For new framework agreements, you will participate in the full European tender procedures and you will be fully responsible for the technical part (market research - drawing up technical specifications - analysis of offers - meetings with suppliers - ...).
• Drafting technical standards/specifications and solutions based on concept notes and guidelines for application in investment projects of the company.
• Providing technical advice to the project teams.
• Developing and providing technical training to the operational entities.
• Maintain a close collaboration with the "datacom" department, which is responsible for developing and supporting the company's telecommunications backbone (the actual telecommunications network), as they manage the "active" equipment of the network.
• Develop a general knowledge of the entire secondary part of a substation of the company.
Acquiring the necessary technical expertise in the subject matter is a prerequisite for carrying out the above activities.

• You can work smoothly in a team, are communicative and have a good power of persuasion.
• You have strong analytical and synthesizing skills so that you can communicate complex issues clearly (both orally and in writing).
• You independently and proactively manage the pre-agreed set of tasks.
• You can report clearly and structurally on the results of your activities in report form or by presentation.
• Thorough knowledge of MS Office is a plus.
• The following technical knowledge is required:
o IT networks and their installation (routers, switches, structured cabling, optical connections, cat6, UTP, STP, ...).
o Detailed technical knowledge of copper and optical cables (including accessories).
o Installation techniques/requirements/... of optical connections between sites/buildings.
