Description

Project description
Full of energy at work on a project with a Belgian key player in the energy landscape!
The company is today confronted with the evolution of the energy landscape (integration of renewable energy and decentralized generation, arrival of new players on the market, closure of central generation units, arrival of batteries, EVs, CRM, CEP, etc.) and the possibilities of digitalization (automation, AI, remote monitoring, etc.) combined with the great ambitions of its main activities (support for electrification, integration of flexibility, congestion management, etc.).
Data play a key role in supporting these evolutions within the company: increasingly, data are an enabler for the decision making process (operational, tactical, strategic). The company wants to make these data available in accordance with the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles, both for people and for systems, and has taken inspiration from the DataMesh approach. This focuses on:
• Setting up Data Domains: all of the company's data is assigned to a domain, to which a Data Owner is assigned. The Data Owner then becomes accountable for the data in his domain. He is supported by the Data Steward, who is responsible for monitoring data quality, among other things;
• The switch from IT-LED Data Products to Business-LED Data Products: the responsibility for qualitative and timely delivery of Data Products falls to business. The Data Products are then developed by multidisciplinary (business and IT) teams. The Data Product Owner and the Data Engineers of the Data Chapter play a crucial role in these teams.
• Extensive training and coaching;
• Governance of all this;

The entire setup must be supported by a solid technological foundation - the DataPlatform.
In implementing the data strategy, two first crucial steps were taken:
• A Data Strategy was outlined and validated at the C-level;
• A number of pilot Data Products were identified for each directorate;
The company now wants to start implementing these pilot Data Products for which the necessary support is being sought.
