Electrical & Mechanical Estimators - 3 Month Temporary Contract - Immediate Start (2 roles)

We are recruiting for one of the nation's largest commercial companies who provide an extensive range of construction services including construction management, general contracting, design and build and preconstruction.

The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Estimator and Mechanical Estimator to join our Building Services team on a 3 month contract based in Canary Wharf, London. The project is Building Services transformation housing development project based in East London. As the successful candidate you will manage all aspects of the tendering process and provide technical support for the Electrical and Mechanical operations.

Key Requirements

  • Ensure the efficient operation of all systems in accordance with the Business Management System (BMS)
  • Analyse enquiry contents, extracting commercial requirements and advising all interested/participating departments of the requirements
  • Interpret the "Scope of Work" and where necessary, formulate and place Sub Contract Enquiries and appraise subsequent responses
  • Attend "Pre Tender Meetings" and "Site Visits" and assessing all salient features
  • Establish working conditions and ensuring completion of the necessary Site Reports
  • Perform "Quantity Take Offs" of materials and labour operations from G.A. Drawings, Schedules and Specifications. If necessary, establishing "Bills of Quantities" and providing Bills of Materials to facilitate material supply pricing
  • Perform an appraisal of Electrical Installation Work and assessing methods of Installation, Manhours and Plant requirements
  • Evaluate "Preambles" and applying Norms/Costs to "Bills of Quantities" or "Schedules of Rates", including sub contract elements
  • Establish total man hours and Costs, evaluating Plant, Staff, Site supervision and Accommodation requirements
  • Summarise Tender and in consultation with the ELT, arrive at a Tender Price
  • Finalise estimates and preparing Tender Submission, including all Qualifications, Considerations and Supporting Documentation
  • Liaise with the Client and all parties concerned during the Tender period
  • Carry out a review of any resultant "Contract Document", attending Post Tender Meetings arranging/attending "Kick Off" meetings internally or with Clients as necessary and dealing with post contract queries
  • Complete any other duties as required in relations to skills, activities and status working to company values

You

  • Solid experience in an Estimating/Commercial environment
  • Projects - Building Services both Commercial and Residential would be an advantage
  • Site and construction management disciplines within highly regulated industries
  • Strong interpersonal skills including both written and verbal
  • High degree of computer literacy
  • Commercial and contractual knowledge and understanding
  • Successful track record as an Estimator
  • BMS Experience
