We are looking for an enthusiastic new team member to join the R & D team in West Yorkshire. Within this role you will take ownership of maintenance and development of software/firmware solutions.

This great Embedded Software Engineer opportunity means you will be working within a small on-site team located within our large office space situated between Bradford and Shipley. You will have exposure to the full development process of our products, plus you will have the opportunity to share ideas and learn from the established and long serving R & D team.

The Role:

As an Embedded Software Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of software/firmware development, taking ownership of maintenance and advancement of our innovative solutions. Working within our vibrant R & D team, you will enjoy a collaborative environment where your ideas are valued, and professional growth is encouraged.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Develop embedded code in C, C++ / C#, and assembler languages.
  • Design software architecture and communication protocols for various microprocessors and microcontrollers.
  • Experience with RTOS and complex real-time systems.
  • Gather project requirements and produce specifications.
  • Manage projects and utilise version control systems.
  • Test prototypes and create supporting documentation.

Requirements:


  • Degree in relevant discipline with minimum 3 years post-qualification industry experience, or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in RTOS (preferably Freescale MQX) and version control systems (SVN/CVS).
  • Familiarity with serial communications, especially CAN Bus.
  • Strong debugging skills and development environment experience.
  • Physical fitness for occasional heavy testing.
  • Must be willing to occasionally travel off-site and overseas.
  • Genuine passion for continuous learning and practical implementation of embedded software with electrical components.

Desirable Experience:


  • Freescale Power PC and HCS12, CodeWarrior, Microchip PIC.
  • Knowledge of CAN/CANOpen, SAE-J1939, and assembler languages.
  • Experience with C++/C# and automotive product qualification.
