Engineering Manager - Design Authority, Safety Case, Site and Facilities

A Engineering Manager with Design Authority, Safety Case and Site and Facilities experience is required to work on a twelve month contract with the possibility of extension for our Defence client based in Barrow - In - Furness.

This is a 12 month contract with a leading UK Defence Business.

Overview of the Engineering Manager contract role

An Engineering Manager is required to undertake Design Authority for nuclear related facilities as defined and to undertake through life management planning to determine the need for major maintenance, facility replacement, or the need for new facilities to meet future requirements, providing documentation in support of facility life extensions.

Key skills required for the Engineering Manager

  • Engineering degree or equivalent qualification or experience in an appropriate engineering subject (Civil/Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services etc.)
  • Chartered in an appropriate Institution.
  • Experience in the majority of stages of the facilities project life cycle (ie design, construction/installation and commissioning of buildings and facilities) is essential.
  • A good design engineering knowledge and ability to ensure that the final project satisfies the client's requirements.
  • Proven experience within a site and facilities background.
  • Experience working on nuclear related projects would be advantageous.
  • Previous people management experience is beneficial.
  • Experience in Project Management is desirable.
  • Safety Case experience is desirable.

The role is based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria - commutable from Carnforth, Milnthorpe, Lancaster, Morecambe, Penrith, Workington, Whitehaven and The Lake District
