Engineering Manager needed for leading defence company based in Filton, The ideal Candidate will have experience in military Radio Communications, covering NATO/US standards and RN communications
Key Technical Skills:
Good organisational and communication skills.
Understanding of capabilities already available within the business and other domains.
Knowledge of appropriate engineering development methodologies and strategies.
Good understanding of requirements management process.
Specific skills required for the "Bearer Systems" Engineering Manager role are:
Background in Military Radio Communications, covering NATO/US standards, RN communications, radio/antenna products, RF aspects (Mutual Interference, Propagation, Intermodulation, RADHAZ etc), ship topside design.
Responsibilities
Major Tasks and Activities:
1. Define a coherent Comms system design, that includes both Procured and GFA subsystems, that meets the technical and budgetary constraints of the programme
2. co-ordinate with the Systems Engineering team (as part of the total system design effort) and manage alignment with the Build/Completions/T&C teams
3. Lead on key transversal aspects (eg security, safety) for communications, liaising with the relevant transverse SMEs
4. Lead on the development of the definition for the interface requirements between subsystems and with the platform
5. Review supplier deliverables (eg design and implementation data)
6. Review and approve deliverables (eg technical specifications) produced by the team
7. Define transverse and platform integration aspects of communications subsystems
8. Assist in definition of support aspects of communications subsystems
9. Define and negotiate with suppliers for studies/de-risk work to confirm the viability of the design and to determine the most cost effective approach to delivery of communications subsystems
