Enterprise Backup Administrator (EMC)

Description

1 x Enterprise Backup Administrator is required for a long term contract role in Valencia, Spain.

Your main task will be the administration and operation of Enterprise Backup services for a global IT company. It is an English-speaking role and the ideal candidate will have experience of EMC Avamar. This will be a 5 day per week position with the possibility of standby and out of hours support. It will require someone that can be based full time in Valencia for the contract duration.

Backup duties:

• Participate in daily operation of backup environment (backups, restores, daily backup troubleshooting)
• Maintain and administer the backup infrastructure (EMC Avamar & EMC DataDomain)
• Manage the backup clients, schedules and retentions
• Provide technical support to the users, troubleshoot technical problems and document solutions
• Develop/update tools and scripts to improve and automate the administration of the Enterprise Backup and monitoring
• Administer Enterprise Backup Service chargeback system
• Develop and update procedures and documentation
• Potentially provide stand-by services on a rotation basis during weekends, holidays and outside of normal working hours

Skills:

• Extensive knowledge in the installation and administration of Enterprise Backup systems, preferably EMC Avamar
• Expert experience in Shell Scripting (PowerShell, Perl, bash, )
• Good knowledge of Linux/Unix administration
• Knowledge of VMware and virtualization technologies
• Knowledge of Windows and Windows Clusters administration
• Knowledge of LAN, WAN as well as Internet technologies and protocols.
• Knowledge of Storage Area Networks, Automated Tape Libraries and Tape/Disk Management products.
• Experience with large scale environments
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Proficient in English.
