BI Tecnical Lead
The Business Intelligence Technical Lead is the development and implementation interface between various technical teammates, project management and the business owner.
In this role, the BI Tech Lead will coordinate with the architecture team to determine the appropriate technical approaches for a project as well as work with the infrastructure team to identify and implement the necessary infrastructure components.
Once technical approaches have been determined the BI Tech Lead will monitor, mentor, facilitate and if necessary execute the implementation of these specified approaches. As the project progresses, the BI Tech Lead will monitor development progress as well as facilitating code reviews to insure quality and conformance.
Outside of the development effort, the BI Tech Lead will operate as the EDS representative for the specification, configuration and acquisition of any infrastructure requirements for assigned projects.
Responsibilities:
Participates in requirements specifications with SA, PM, DM and BA team members
Responsible for Technical Design Document, Operational Design Document as well as other technical related deliverables
Assists the PM in the development of the project schedule and obtains estimates from each area
Responsible for providing all information necessary for the selection, configuration and acquisition of required software and hardware
Facilitates data modeling activities with DM
Facilitates and or executes ETL design and development
Facilitates and or execute Reporting design
Facilitates all database maintenance activities with DBA
Monitors development progress relative to project schedule and provides feedback to PM
Serves as main point of contact for technical issue escalation and provides feedback to PM
Insures the completion of code and standards reviews to insure appropriate quality of work
Insures adherence to corporate standards and contributes to improving the standards as well as promoting industry best practices
Skills:
Strong Business Intelligence design skills across project spectrum (Requirements, ETL, modeling, reporting and testing)
Experience in the issues surrounding very large databases in the terabyte range including the options available to evaluate and propose various performance alternatives
Knowledge of multiple database environments including Oracle 8i/9i, IBM DB2 on both ZOS and Unix and SQL Server and the associated challenges of a mixed environment
Strong UNIX Scripting experience.
Experience in leading either a team of ETL developers, BI report developers or warehouse designers
Experience in executing in onshore/offshore model.
Experience delivering development/maintenance projects with strong English reading and writing communication skills, with a capacity to understand and express complex technical concepts
Experience in the selection, acquisition and configuration of both Servers and SAN equipment
Experience in the performance options available at the ETL, reporting tool, database and hardware levels and how to evaluate those options relative to a given project
Experience implementing with various data integration tools, such as Abinitio
Excellent analytical skills, judgment and oral and written communication skill
Ability to lead large matrixed technical team
A Bachelors Degree is preferred for this position, however candidates with commensurate experience will be considered.
Bachelors degree and 10+ years progressive work related experience with demonstrated proficiency in multiple disciplines/processes related to the position or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience. Senior Level knowledge and experience with Data Warehouse environment and ETL software such as COGNOS or AB INITIO. Solid experience as a Team Lead providing team leadership to less experience developers and serving as the point for all top level technical issues. Provides direction in the development and maintenance of application programs as well as participates in various phases of the development cycle. Ensures development adheres to performance optimization, interoperability standards and requirements, and compliance with IT governance. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Acts as liaison to clients on highly technical and most complex project requests and serves as a technical advisor to other team members. Designs and engineers systems, provides complex and unique customization of systems development. Provides integration support for all project work and as necessary to meet business needs. Provides overall application system integrity and meets applicable project schedules. Supports and reviews estimates of task level project workload supporting the development effort. Contributor to projects which span the enterprise. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated knowledge of Project Management methodology and Middleware application development (such as WebSphere, MQ). Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of structured analysis, technical design techniques and related software architectures and development methodologies. Experience providing leadership to less experience developers and serving as the point for all top level technical issues. Strong verbal and written communication skills for the purpose of presenting and discussing technical information as well as influencing and gaining the understanding of others.
