Description
An international company in the energy sector is looking for a driven Strategic Buyer for works in high-voltage substations to strengthen its dynamic Works Substations team in Belgium. You will manage the full purchasing process for your category and work side by side with project teams, contract managers and internal experts.
Responsibilities
- Manage the full purchasing process, including market publication, bid analysis, negotiations, evaluation of offers and project award
- Take the lead in setting up tender procedures
- Define and implement project procurement strategies based on your market knowledge
- Work side by side with colleagues and internal experts to understand project needs and align them with the market
- Build expertise (market and technical knowledge) within your category and contribute to the category strategy for the medium to long term
- Work with a multifunctional team to identify business needs, improvements and opportunities
- Actively contribute to procurement objectives and transversal initiatives with your category and market knowledge
- Share your market and category knowledge with internal stakeholders when negotiating contractual conditions
- Support project teams and contract managers in the commercial and contractual follow-up of projects in execution:
- Follow up and negotiate additional costs
- Ensure contractual conditions are met (quality, planning, safety)
- Build sustainable relationships with contractors in close cooperation with the Supplier Manager
- Contribute to implementing new ways of working within the works team
- Align with your counterpart at a group site in Berlin to share insights
Qualifications
- Several years of experience as a (strategic) buyer or procurement professional, ideally for construction or electrical works (medior level)
- Experience in running complete tender procedures, from market publication to award
- Experience in defining procurement and category strategies
- Experience in the commercial and contractual follow-up of projects, including claims and additional costs
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Very good Dutch and English
Project Details
- Location: Brussels, Belgium
- Work Model: Hybrid
- Onsite Requirement: 2 days per week, 60% remote
- Workload: 100% (Monday to Friday)
- Start: 23.11.2026
- Duration: until 31.12.2028, 25 months
- Non-EU candidates: a valid work permit and residence permit for Belgium are required
