Description

An international company in the energy sector, a European transmission system operator, is looking for an experienced Data Governance Advisor (Senior) for its corporate Data Chapter in Brussels.

The company is moving towards data-centricity and wants to enable the entire organization to use data as a driver for its strategic ambitions, transformation themes and regulatory compliance. As a Data Advisor in a product team, you close the gap between business and data: together with subject matter experts, you define solid foundations for data in terms of metadata, responsibilities and discoverability on the data platform, and you help improve and simplify data management practices across the group.

The mission rests on three pillars: creating business value through data, thinking data intuitively and unlocking transversal data that is fit for purpose. The Data Chapter works on data initiatives at group sites in Belgium and Germany, which gives you the opportunity to leave your signature on corporate data management. The team values respect, an open mind, daring, challenge, innovation and customer orientation.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to improving the Data Governance methodology by providing feedback from the field
  • Work with a business purpose, covering data, organization & people, processes and technology
  • Understand and analyze business needs

  • Advise and train Data Owners, Data Stewards, business and IT teams, including on-the-job coaching
  • Continuously review and ensure the transversality of the Business Glossary as the common language within the company by formalizing business definitions of data and their purpose
  • Manage expectations of, and closely collaborate and align with, multi-disciplinary stakeholders, departments and product teams
  • Bring people with various backgrounds together to converge on shared solutions
  • Act as an ambassador of a one-team mindset for the customer and always generate business value
  • Not in scope of this role:
  • Defining the Data Governance methodology (you influence its evolution through retrospective feedback)
  • Making decisions for the business (you advise with careful logic and transparent reasoning)
  • Managing the data community, engineering or development teams
  • Defining solution or technical architecture details, implementing technical solutions or developing systems

  • Curious, willing to learn and able to introduce creative and innovative solutions
  • Strong communication skills to facilitate workshops, lead when necessary and coach people on the job, adapting to the maturity level of business users and IT project leaders
