Description

An international company in the energy sector is looking for a Senior UX Researcher & Designer for its Portals & Platform (P&P) product line. You bring the user perspective into the design and evolution of the company's digital platforms, working across discovery, research, interaction design and validation.

The product line provides the company's digital services to external customers and service providers, with the ambition of creating comprehensible and seamless journeys for different energy-market stakeholders in Belgium and Germany.

You will work side by side with other contractors and internal staff in a diverse, knowledge-sharing team at the forefront of the energy transition.

Responsibilities
  • Define and validate the user experience across three platforms:
  • EPIC – customer-facing portal: individual services and cross-platform experiences such as contact and account management, activities and notifications, onboarding, contractual roles, access and permissions, information architecture and navigation
  • traXes – developer and API platform for digital services and energy data, evolving towards one unified experience that combines Open Data and API journeys, from service discovery and API documentation to access, authentication and navigation
  • LinX – internal back-office platform: user and company management, authorizations and permissions, internal administration flows and usage monitoring; current initiatives include the internal user and company pages, permission management and EPIC usage monitoring
  • Lead UX research activities and document them in the research repository
  • Prepare and facilitate workshops on functional framing, ideation and co-design with key stakeholders (business, IT, end users, or on an ad hoc basis for user tests and focus groups)
  • Collect insights into user needs and pain points, along with feedback throughout the project, by implementing appropriate research methods (on-site observations, interviews, user tests, surveys, literature, etc.)
  • Analyze user behavior and website performance using tools such as Matomo and heatmaps
  • Create personas and experience maps through user research and data
  • Define the right interaction model and evaluate its success via measurable criteria
  • Identify business processes and use cases, define and formalize user journeys or make recommendations for improving existing journeys
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
  • Present ideas, concepts and design solutions to various stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the UI Designer to ensure consistency with the design system
  • Contribute to team efforts by actively participating in broader UX Chapter activities such as feedback sharing sessions and knowledge sharing

Qualifications
  • 7 years of experience in design thinking in the context of agile projects
  • 7 years of experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods
  • 3 years of experience with interaction design and information architecture
  • Ability to create lo-fi wireframes, prototypes and user flows in Figma
  • Attention to detail and work delivered to a high standard
  • Proficient in design software (Figma), presentation software (PowerPoint, Miro), Matomo, heatmaps, etc.
  • Ability to use a design system in Figma is a plus
  • Ability to use the research tool Condens is a big plus
  • Formal qualification in UX (master's degree, certification, etc.) is required
  • Good level of Dutch and/or French and English is required, German is a plus

Project Details
  • Location: Brussels, Belgium (Empereur office)
  • Work Model: Hybrid
  • Onsite Requirement: 2 days per week, 60% remote
  • Workload: 100% (Monday to Friday)
  • Start: ASAP
  • Duration: until 30.11.2027, 13 months
  • Non-EU candidates: a valid work permit and residence permit for Belgium are required
