My client in Hackney is searching for a Finance System Assistant to join their team on an initial 3 month contract.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • To provide system and administrative support to the Systems Team and to support and maintain financial systems.
  • To provide services of the highest quality and in a manner, which both promotes and demonstrates the clients core values and organisational beliefs.
  • To operate the service desk and record service request/problems on the fault logging system.
  • To also provide administrative and functional support for the development and maintenance of core systems.
  • To assist in the provision of ad-hoc training and to provide comprehensive support for users of the core financial system and all relevant Legacy systems
  • To carry out the responsibilities of the post consistent with the aims and objectives outlined in the Corporate Plan and in accordance with Standing Orders, Financial Regulations and other local or statutory requirements.

Main Areas of Responsibility

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of comprehensive auditing of active users, termination and access levels, ie cost centre security, approval hierarchy, separation of duties.
  • Carry out periodic tasks associated with application security, system maintenance, system performance and application customisation.
  • To provide assistance for the administration, maintenance, and development of the core financial systems.
  • To provide functional and administrative support in therunning and controlling of interfaces, down loading and uploading information, opening and closing periods.
  • Assist the Head of Service in addressing application problems, specification and testing of modifications, liaison with the software developers, core ICT and other relevant agencies.
  • Operate, administer, maintain, and develop the service desk management service to provide rapid call logging, tracking and an effective facility for resolving corporate and end user problems.
  • Assist as directed in monitoring resolution of problems and maintain knowledge base system to include procedures for dealing with known issues.
  • Assist in the development, production and dissemination of periodic reports.
  • Provide ad-hoc reports and other management information as required.
  • As directed, contribute to the development of training strategies and assist in the provision of financial systems training.
  • As directed help prepare and maintain local documentation and procedure notes relating to the operation of the system.
  • Awareness of the vision, values and goals of the Authority, the Directorate, the Division and the Section.
  • As directed, to contribute to the development and maintenance of the core Financial System.
  • As required, to assist and support special projects and exercises associated with the implementation, improvement and optimisation of the core Financial System.
  • In conjunction with the head of service, agree personal development plans which will assist in meeting agreed outcomes and carrying out of main tasks.
  • To work as part of an efficient and effective team.
  • To assist in the development of a customer friendly service.
  • To attend relevant meetings as directed by the head of service.
  • Maintain effective communication with other members of staff.
  • To assist in ensuring that the clients Financial standing orders, financial regulations, equal opportunities,and other relevant policies, code of conduct and personnel practices and procedures or other corporate rules, policies or standards, are met and to ensure that these are applied consistently at all times in the Service Directorates.
  • To maintain effective working relationships, based upon exemplary standards of professionalism, honesty and respect, with Members, other officers, and outside agencies.

  • Understanding of the operation of financial systems in a large organisation.

Experience

  • Experience of financial systems work
  • Experience of supporting a Service Desk function

  • A Level Accountancy, B/TEC Business Studies
