Firmware, RTOS, Motor Control, Instrumentation, OOP

I am currently looking for a firmware engineer to work for a client of mine on a new project. You will come in as a technical lead and assist the company with low level firmware development. You will need experience with real-time systems and a good understanding of object orientated principle.

Job Type: Contract

Duration: 3 months

Location: Surrey

Rate: £35 - £40 p/h

You will:
  • Lead firmware development for new product releases, mentoring less experienced Engineers where required.
  • Plan the development of firmware and provide realistic estimates, contributing to project planning.
  • Produce reliable and effective firmware designs that integrate with existing and future products and systems for the purpose of data acquisition, analysis and transmission, motor control and user interfacing.
  • Have a proven track record of writing efficient and effective code using C (C++ and C# are a bonus)
  • Work effectively, focussing on critical tasks.
  • Document your development, and communicate in layman's terms to other interested parties that may not be experts in software development.
  • Prove, by testing and debugging, that the firmware works as designed and is fit for purpose


Experience / Skills required:
  • Extensive 'C' coding experience
  • PID/ experience with optimisation for motor control
  • Understanding of Object Orientated Principles
  • Real time systems
  • Software development using other languages e.g. : Assembler, JAVA, C#, Python, Ruby, Perl, C-Shell, Bash scripts would be beneficial..
  • Interest and understanding of electronic design and diagnosis.
