The Front End Developer will:
Build Front End, user facing services, Support a continuous deployment environment.
The Front End Developer designs, creates and improves new and existing products, platforms and transactions as part of a multi-functional agile delivery team.
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the post are to:
- Build up a useful, robust automated test suite to support a continuous deployment environment
- Be involved in the wider web development community; identifying good practices to adopt and sharing experiences
- Proactively seek and maintain knowledge of tools and techniques used within the wider team.
Skills and Experience Required
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven track record in implementing APIs for internal and external use
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience
- Proven track record of working/participating in technical teams in a complex environment
- Experience of handling large data sets and scaling their handling and storage
- Track record of designing and maintaining public HTTP APIs
- Good understanding of web architecture
- Understanding of Responsive Web Design
- Proven track record of building and scaling high-traffic websites
- System administration and configuration management skills
- Working knowledge of relational and non-relational database systems
- Working knowledge of the use of version control systems such as subversion or git
- Working knowledge of unix-like operating systems such as Linux and/or Mac OS X
- Proven track record of building Server Side web applications and have detailed knowledge of HTML, JavaScript and CSS
- Proven ability to quickly research and learn new programming tools and techniques.
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Have a working knowledge of SASS, Mustache templates, Java 7 and Angular.js
- Experience of collaborative working in an agile development environment
- Qualification or relevant experience in a related field would be useful such as: membership of relevant professional body, BCS or IET or INCOSE.
