HomeBase seeks to develop a pool of contractors to provide on demand, full stack web development services to assist in the design, development, and maintenance of various web applications supporting the organization's mission to advance solutions to homelessness.We are a fast-growing, innovative nonprofit that works with communities to establish the systems and programs needed to help people who are homeless or at-risk achieve housing stability, improve health and wellness, maximize economic self-sufficiency, and reclaim their dignity. Contractors will work with our Data and Innovations Team to build applications that increase community capacity to manage service delivery, and understand the nature and extent of homelessness.
Experience with Adobe ColdFusion is strongly preferred.
A pool of contractors will be selected from this call for qualifications, with work opportunities to begin in 2016. Assignments will be intermittent, and ongoing for at least a 3-year period. We anticipate hours/year of contractor activity.
Desired Skills
- Self-Directed, motivated and interested in an agile and collaborative development process
- Experience with ColdFusion and JavaScript; Knowledge of PHP, Ruby and Python preferred.
- Significant experience with modern web technologies, including HTML5 and CSS, and familiarity with Foundation, Bootstrap or similar front-end framework
- Strong relational database experience (SQL, MySQL, Postgres)
- Familiarity with responsive design and mobile web development
- UI and Design Experience
Background
HomeBase is a nonprofit public interest organization providing legal and technical services to end homelessness, prevent its recurrence, and decrease its effect on communities. Based in San Francisco, we work on the local, state and national level to support communities in implementing responses to homelessness while fostering collaboration in addressing its political and economic causes.
HomeBase's Program Evaluation and Scoring Tool [PRESTO] is a web-based platform for analyzing the performance of homeless housing and service providers, and facilitating local submissions to federal agencies that support funding requests. PRESTO evaluates, compares and synthesizes over 300 individual data-points collected from community MIS and reports.
PRESTO's flexible data collection and reporting features allow it to be adapted for use with a diverse set of data sources and individual community needs.
Application Cycle
